| About the area:
It is possible to partake in a wide variety of activities in the Cowal area:
- Enjoy walking in Pucks Glen, Glen Massan or anywhere in the beautiful surrounding countryside. Also excellent for cycling, fishing and golf. (The nearest golf course is only five minutes away from The Mayfair).
- Visit the world-renowned Benmore Botanical Gardens, only a fifteen-minute drive away.
- Take a trip 'doon the watter' on the paddle-steamer Waverley during July and August.
- Visit the quaint town of Inveraray with its famous jail and castle and nearby Auchendrain outdoor museum. En route is the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar and the Fyne Ales micro brewery.
- Oban is only a two hour drive and has lots of shops and an excellent distillery! Also visit the Seal Sanctuary and Seil Island with its heritage village and the only “bridge over the Atlantic”.
- Visit “beautiful Bute” via one of the shortest ferry crossings in Scotland. Don’t miss Rothesay Castle, the Victorian Gents toilets(!) and the staggering splendour of Mount Stuart.
- Marvel at the amazing feats on display at the world-famous Cowal Games
(Cowal Highland Gathering).
- There’s lots more to do – just ask your hosts Dennis and Jenny Grayson
